Basketball Recap: Hanford Takes a Loss

Hanford lost against Tulare Western back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Hanford Bullpups fell 47-38 to the Tulare Western Mustangs. While losing is never fun, the Bullpups can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 869th, while the Mustangs are ranked 431st).

Tulare Western's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Miranda Nevarez led the charge by putting up 17 points. Those 17 points gave Nevarez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Regina Toscano, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds.

Hanford has been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-17 record this season. As for Tulare Western, their win bumped their record up to 16-9.

Hanford will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Mission Oak at 7:15 p.m. As for Tulare Western, they will venture away from home to take on Lemoore at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Tulare Western is facing Lemoore at the right time seeing as Lemoore is stuck on an 11-game losing streak.
