Basketball Recap: Rancho Christian Takes Down Ventura in a Playoff Battle

It's playoff time, and Rancho Christian had no trouble coming through when it counted. They came out on top against the Ventura Cougars by a score of 65-54 on Wednesday. The victory was nothing new for the Eagles as they're now sitting on three straight.

Julia Wilson was her usual excellent self, putting up 27 points along with eight assists and seven boards. Her evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least 18 points. Alyson Boyd was another key player, dropping a double-double with 14 points and 15 rebounds.

Rancho Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Ventura lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Brinley Anderson, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and 18 boards. She is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 45% in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Sofia Martinez, who almost dropped a double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds.

Rancho Christian's win bumped their record up to 24-8. As for Ventura, their loss dropped their record down to 27-4.

Coming up, Rancho Christian will venture away from home to square off against Harvard-Westlake at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Rancho Christian's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven games. Ventura does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
