The Mater Dei Catholic Crusaders will challenge the Carlsbad Lancers at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Carlsbad took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Mater Dei Catholic, who comes in off a win.

On Saturday, Mater Dei Catholic strolled past Pacifica Christian with points to spare, taking the game 50-36. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Crusaders.

Jarika Chan had a dynamite game, shooting 55% from the field on her way to 17 points and four steals. The last time her shooting accuracy was this high was back in January. Another player making a difference was Promise Martin, who posted eight points and 12 rebounds.

Mater Dei Catholic smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 24 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Carlsbad unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. The game between the Lancers and Cathedral Catholic didn't end well, with the Lancers falling 64-45.

Mater Dei Catholic was able to grind out a solid win over Carlsbad in their previous matchup back in March, winning 59-52. Will the Crusaders repeat their success, or do the Lancers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
