Basketball Recap: San Juan Comes Up Short

San Juan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 13th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were dealt a 63-6 loss at the hands of the Woodland Christian Cardinals. The Spartans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 26-1.

Keziah Maldonado-Lemus was her usual excellent self, going 7 of 10 on her way to 17 points in addition to eight assists and eight steals for Woodland Christian. Maldonado-Lemus is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Teagan Hayes, who went 6 for 11 en route to 13 points and five steals.

San Juan's defeat dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Woodland Christian, their victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-5.

San Juan will take on Golden Sierra at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Woodland Christian, they will face off against Rio Vista at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
