The Willowbrook Warriors will head out to square off against the Lyons Lions at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Willowbrook is coming into the game hot, having won their last 25 games.
On Thursday, Willowbrook was able to grind out a solid victory over Berwyn/Cicero Morton, taking the game 11-7. That's two games straight that the Warriors have won by exactly four runs.
Willowbrook let Jake Bonino and Charlie Roelle run wild. Bonino went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Roelle went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI Roelle has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Tommy Roelle, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Lyons came up short against Hinsdale Central on Friday and fell 5-1.
Lyons saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Blake Ragsdale, who went 2-for-4 with one run.
Willowbrook's win bumped their record up to 26-4. As for Lyons, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 20-8 record this season.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Willowbrook has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Lyons struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Willowbrook skirted past Lyons 4-2 in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
