Baseball Recap: Wakefield Comes Up Short

Wakefield extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 3-9 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Washington-Liberty Generals. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Warriors have suffered since March 19, 2024.

Wakefield saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mason Bull, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

As for Washington-Liberty, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games.

On Washington-Liberty's side, Kailen Hackmann looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Hackmann posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

Coming up, Wakefield will square off against McLean at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Washington-Liberty has already played their next game (against Wakefield School), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
