Softball Recap: St. Michael the Archangel Guardians vs. Warrensburg Tigers
St. Michael the Archangel hadn't done well against Warrensburg recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Guardians sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 victory over the Tigers. This was payback for the Guardians, who suffered a 10-6 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Sophie Young was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off ten hits. Young was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, Lyla Ventimiglia was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Ava Bates was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
