Softball Recap: Lafayette County Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Lafayette County, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Marshall Owls 9-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Huskers have posted since September 12th.

Myla Petersen was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Petersen was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Chloe Weddle was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Lafayette County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in four consecutive games.

Lafayette County's win bumped their record up to 11-12. As for Marshall, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.

Coming up, Lafayette County will welcome Sherwood at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday. The Marksmen have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.71 runs per game on average), something the Huskers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Marshall, they will head out on the road to take on Fulton at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Hornets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.88 runs per game on average), something the Owls will no doubt try to take advantage of.
