Soccer Game Preview: Madera South vs. Clovis

The Madera South Stallions will take on the Clovis Cougars in a tournament on Friday. Madera South is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.

While Madera South didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-11-5), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They never let Corcoran get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory on Saturday. Considering Madera South have won four matches by more than three goals this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Clovis' game on Wednesday was all tied up 0-0 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They walked away with a 2-0 win over Fresno Christian. The victory was all the more spectacular given Clovis' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 447th, while Fresno Christian are ranked 109th).

Madera South's record is now 8-2. As for Clovis, their record now sits at 3-5-1.

Madera South came out on top in a nail-biter against Clovis in their previous meeting two weeks ago, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Stallions since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
