Soccer Recap: Montclair Comes Up Short

Montclair and Crescenta Valley squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Montclair had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 3-2. While losing is never fun, Montclair can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 330th, while Crescenta Valley are ranked 143rd).

This is the second loss in a row for Montclair and nudges their season record down to 12-11-1. As for Crescenta Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6-2 record this season.

Montclair does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Crescenta Valley, they wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and have already played their next matchup, a 2-1 victory against Oxnard on the 14th.
