Basketball Recap: NOVA Academy Snaps Three-Game Streak of Wins at Home

NOVA Academy entered their matchup against Western Christian on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The game between the NOVA Academy Eagles and the Western Christian Fighting Lancers didn't end well, with the NOVA Academy Eagles falling 51-33.

Leading Western Christian to victory were Cece Balderrama and Hannah Yamamoto. Balderrama posted eight points in addition to 18 boards and four steals, while Yamamoto had 11 points and five assists. What's more, Balderrama also racked up two assists, the most she's had since back in December of 2023. Kayden Quiroz was another key player, putting up eight points and four steals.

NOVA Academy's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-5. As for Western Christian, they now have a winning record of 11-10.

NOVA Academy will head out to challenge Western Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Western Christian, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Magnolia Science Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
