Baseball Game Preview: Brookwood Broncos vs. Walnut Grove Warriors

The Brookwood Broncos will square off against the Walnut Grove Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Brookwood: 4.1, Walnut Grove: 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Brookwood is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Westlake with a sharp 14-3 victory on Wednesday. The win was familiar territory for the Broncos, who have now won four games in a row.

Marshall Jackson looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Carson Tulles was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mason Archie, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Brookwood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, Walnut Grove unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of North Gwinnett by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Warriors have suffered since April 25, 2024.

Walnut Grove's loss dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Brookwood, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Brookwood has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Walnut Grove struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.6 strikeouts.
