Alexander is 1-8 against Nelsonville-York since October of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Spartans will host the Buckeyes at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Friday, Alexander made easy work of River Valley and carried off a 26-6 victory. The win continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won four in a row.

Alexander got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Trenton Mash out in front who rushed for 148 yards while picking up 7.8 yards per carry. Those 148 rushing yards gave Mash a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Carter Jewell, who punched in two rushing scores.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Alexander was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 215 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Alexander's defense and their three sacks. Aiden Ross refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself.
Meanwhile, Nelsonville-York got themselves on the board against Wellston on Friday, but Wellston never followed suit. They breezed past the Golden Rockets to the tune of 55-0. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Buckeyes' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 283rd, while the Golden Rockets are ranked 682nd).
Alexander better keep an eye on Cameron Sullivan. He was instrumental in Nelsonville-York's win, rushing for 114 yards and a pair of scores, while also throwing for 58 yards and one touchdown. Sullivan showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 65 yards. Austin Gautier was another key player, gaining 48 total yards and three touchdowns.
Alexander now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Nelsonville-York, their win bumped their record up to 7-0.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Alexander has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 148 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Nelsonville-York struggles in that department as they've been averaging 297 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
