Recap: Sewickley Academy vs. Ellwood City Wolverine
Sewickley Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their sixth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 67-34 loss at the hands of Ellwood City. Sewickley Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 53-20.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ellwood City to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kayla Jones, who scored 15 points. Jones is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Delaney Sturgeon, who scored 11 points.
Sewickley Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Ellwood City, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.
Sewickley Academy will head out on the road to face off against Shenango at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Ellwood City, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Laurel at 6:30 p.m. Laurel will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 604th, while Ellwood City is ranked 228th).
