Football Recap: Valencia Jaguars vs. Belen Eagles

Valencia was the 20-14 winner over Belen when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Jaguars were just a hair shy of victory on Friday and fell 28-27 to the Eagles. The Jaguars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Valencia had strong showings from Santino Mares, who rushed for 90 yards and one touchdown on only 12 carries, and Michael Storms III, who rushed for 142 yards and one score.

Gonzalo Cano had an outrageously good game for Belen as he rushed for 107 yards and a pair of TDs on only 15 carries, and also threw for 105 yards and a pair of touchdowns. What's more, Cano posted two passing touchdowns, the most he's had since back in September of 2024.

Valencia now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Belen, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Valencia will welcome Cuba at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Belen, they will be playing at home against Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Eagles' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
