Baseball Game Preview: Santiago Sharks vs. Centennial Huskies

The Santiago Sharks will take on the Centennial Huskies at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The last three games Santiago has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Friday, Santiago didn't have quite enough to beat Norco and fell 4-3. The loss continues a trend for the Sharks in their meetings with the Cougars: they've now lost seven in a row.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Centennial, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They walked away with an 11-6 victory over King on Friday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Huskies considering their one-run performance the matchup before.

Manny Arellano looked comfortable as he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Jesse Mendoza was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and six RBI. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Michael Nonis, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Centennial lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. They are 6-1 when they post two or more home runs.

Centennial's win bumped their record up to 11-14. As for Santiago, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-10.

Santiago came out on top in a nail-biter against Centennial in their previous meeting back in March of 2025, sneaking past 3-2. Will the Sharks repeat their success, or do the Huskies have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
