Basketball Recap: Mira Loma Takes a Loss

Mira Loma was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 51-3 loss at the hands of the Wheatland Pirates. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Matadors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 47-23 back in January.

Wheatland's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kimiko Cervantes, who went 7 of 15 en route to 17 points and eight steals. That's the most points Cervantes has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Reagan Clancy, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 steals.

Mira Loma's record now sits at 3-20. As for Wheatland, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-18.

Mira Loma and Wheatland could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Mira Loma will square off against Marysville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday down 920 places (1173 vs. 253). Meanwhile, Wheatland (ranked 1121st) will meet Lincoln (ranked 323rd) at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
