Basketball Recap: Lodi Takes a Loss

Lodi played a tough matchup on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the St. Mary's Rams 68-29. The Flames haven't had much luck with the Rams recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

Sienna Aitken was Lodi's leading scorer, having posted eight points. Isabel Humphrey held things down on the boards with five rebounds.

St. Mary's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Evelini Smith led the charge by going 7-for-11 on her way to 18 points and eight rebounds. Smith is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 50% in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Nyah Buntun, who posted 12 points in addition to seven steals and five boards.

Lodi now has a losing record of 11-12. As for St. Mary's, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-11.

Lodi has already played their next contest, a 45-31 win against Tracy on the 4th. As for St. Mary's, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 52-39 loss against San Ramon Valley on the 5th.
