Basketball Recap: Leilani Roche and Monserrat Medrano Secure Win for Castle Park

After losing to Mar Vista the last time they met, Castle Park decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Castle Park Trojans came out on top in a nail-biter against the Mar Vista Mariners on Thursday, sneaking past 33-31.

Castle Park was led to victory by Monserrat Medrano and Leilani Roche. Medrano posted 13 points along with seven rebounds and four steals, while Roche earned nine points in addition to five boards and four steals. The dominant performance gave Roche a new career-high in rebounds. Another player making a difference was Andrea Garcia-Dumer, who scored four points.

When it comes to explaining why Mar Vista lost, don't look at Allyson Bell. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 15 points and 19 boards. Bell has been hot recently, having posted ten or more rebounds the last three times she's played. Anissa Smith was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with nine points and 12 boards.

Castle Park's record now sits at 11-14. As for Mar Vista, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season.

As of now, neither Castle Park nor Mar Vista have any future games scheduled.
