Softball Recap: Blair Comes Up Short

Blair had lost three straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 22-8 to make it four. They took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gretna Dragons. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Dragons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-0 back in August.

Laynie Brown made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-3.

As for Gretna, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 22-6. With that win, they brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

On Gretna's side, Taelyn Rupiper spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks. Rupiper has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Maddie Kurrus, who fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-4. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in August. The team also got some help courtesy of Megan Marshall, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Blair didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 14-4 victory against Bennington on the 2nd. As for Gretna, they have also already played their next contest, an 8-4 win against Pius X on the 2nd.
