Softball Recap: Grovetown Now 8-1 over Last Nine Games

Grovetown won the last time they faced Newton and things went their way on Monday too. The Warriors were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Rams. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 19 contests by six runs or more this season.

Josalyn Sergent was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jada Fulbright, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Iman Wright, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Grovetown always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Newton only posted an OBP of .250.

Grovetown is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-5 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 9.8 runs. As for Newton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-11.
