Baseball Game Preview: Williamsville Bullets vs. Springfield

The Williamsville Bullets will challenge Springfield at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. Williamsville's hitters haven't had much luck over their past four contests, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Williamsville turned things around against Lincoln on Saturday. They came out on top against the Railsplitters by a score of 2-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bullets have posted since April 25th.

Carson Thomas looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Williamsville is undefeated when Thomas allows one or fewer earned runs, but 13-14 otherwise.

At the plate, Williamsville's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Gage Ratliff, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI. That triple was Ratliff's first of the season.

Meanwhile, Springfield didn't have quite enough to beat Edwardsville on Saturday and fell 6-5. Springfield hasn't had much luck with Edwardsville recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Springfield's loss dropped their record down to 14-19. As for Williamsville, their win bumped their record up to 16-14.
