High school basketball: Five-star California sophomore Alijah Arenas explodes for season-high 53 points in Regional Semifinals

Arenas is averaging 33.4 points, 8.1 rebounds and 3.2 assists on the season after the scoring outburst.

Top five Class of 2026 prospect Alijah Arenas exploded for a season-high 53 points in a 74-69 victory for Chatsworth over George Washington Prep (Los Angeles) Saturday night to send the Chancellors to the CIF Division IV state semifinals.

Arenas tallied 23 points in the first half and erupted for 30 more in the second half of the impressive win. He is now averaging 33.4 points, 8.1 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.0 blocks per contest on the season to help Chatsworth improve to a record of 19-14.

The five-star guard is also approaching 2,000 points for his career as he enters the Chancellors CIF Division IV regional title game with 1,885 points through two seasons.

The scoring outburst was the second highest total of Alijah's career as he dropped a career-high 56 points in a 97-48 victory over Canoga Park last season as a freshman.

Arenas earned third team MaxPreps Freshman All-America honors last season after averaging 30.3 points, 9.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per contest. He is regarded as the No. 4 prospect in the Class of 2026 according to 247Sports.

Gilbert Arenas averaged 20.7 points, 5.3 assists and 3.9 rebounds over the course of 11 NBA seasons and was named an all-star three times. Agent Zero's career-high in the NBA came against the Los Angeles Lakers on Dec. 17, 2006 when he scored 60 points to go along with eight rebounds and eight assists in a 147-141 overtime victory.



Gilbert Arenas' daughter is also currently playing high school basketball as Izela Arenas is a senior guard who starts for national No. 5 Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, Calif.).
