Soccer Game Preview: Plainfield East vs. Minooka

Plainfield East and Minooka are an even 5-5 against one another since September of 2016, but likely not for long. The Bengals are taking a road trip to take on the Indians at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Plainfield East's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for five straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Plainfield East is likely headed into the contest with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Bolingbrook on Thursday. The Bengals took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Raiders. While losing is never fun, Plainfield East can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 239th, while Bolingbrook are ranked 78th).

Meanwhile, Minooka entered their tilt with Plainfield North on Thursday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They were the clear victors by a 4-1 margin over the Tigers. Minooka might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by three goals or more this season.

Minooka's victory bumped their record up to 16-1. As for Plainfield East, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-13.

Plainfield East came out on top in a nail-biter against Minooka in their previous meeting back in September of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bengals since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
