Football Recap: Cathedral Wins High-Profile Matchup Against Trotwood-Madison

Cathedral is ranked highly in their home state and on Friday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Trotwood-Madison. The Fighting Irish managed a 32-28 win over the Rams. The victory was familiar territory for the Fighting Irish, who have now won three contests in a row.

Xavier Dangerfield was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 177 yards and a pair of scores. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in October of 2024. Cameron Koers was another key player, having thrown for 268 yards and two touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Cathedral was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 225 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 182 rushing yards in four consecutive games.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Cathedral's defense and their four sacks. Gannon Knowles was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up three himself.

Cathedral's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Trotwood-Madison, this is the second loss in a row for them and also nudges their season record down to 4-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Cathedral will face off against Center Grove at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Fighting Irish will need to watch out since the Trojans have now posted at least 31 points in their last five contests. As for Trotwood-Madison, they will head out to square off against Dunbar at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The game will give the Rams their first taste of in-conference action this season.
