Softball Recap: Eagle Valley's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

Eagle Valley dropped down to 8-13-1 on Thursday, ending the team's four-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Montezuma-Cortez Panthers by a score of 10-8. If the Devils were looking for revenge after losing 15-0 to the Panthers when the teams met back in October of 2019, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Montezuma-Cortez, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-16. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since August 29, 2024.

For Montezuma-Cortez's part, AnnaLisa Abeyta spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and four unearned) runs on eight hits.

At the plate, Montezuma-Cortez let Aubrey Taveria and Raegan Veach run wild. Taveria went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Veach went 3-for-5 with three runs and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Abigail Baker, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

As of now, neither Eagle Valley nor Montezuma-Cortez have any future games scheduled.
