Football Game Preview: Beloit Trojans vs. Ellsworth Bearcats

The Beloit Trojans will square off against the Ellsworth Bearcats on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Beloit is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Minneapolis, posting a 54-6 victory. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Ellsworth, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They blew past Halstead 42-14 on Friday. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Bearcats had established a 21-point advantage.

Ellsworth's win came from a few key players Beloit will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Tucker Goss, who rushed for 111 yards and four TDs. Goss is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 111 every time he's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Minear, who rushed for 105 yards and one touchdown on only seven carries.

Ellsworth's run defense was locked in: Halstead could only muster three yards per carry. While three picked up at least five total tackles, Goss stood above the rest. He rushed for 111 yards and four scores. Ellsworth didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 6.1.

Ellsworth's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Beloit, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

Beloit was able to grind out a solid victory over Ellsworth in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, winning 20-7. Will the Trojans repeat their success, or do the Bearcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
