Basketball Preview: Desert Christian Academy Conquerors vs. California Military Institute Rough Riders
Desert Christian Academy is 5-0 against the Rough Riders since February of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Desert Christian Academy Conquerors will look to defend their home court against the California Military Institute Rough Riders at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Desert Christian Academy has five straight victories, the Rough Riders have five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
In what's become a running theme this season, Desert Christian Academy gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 67-14 victory over Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 48-10.
Desert Christian Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Hannah Shaver, who almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds. Shaver hasn't dropped below nine rebounds for ten straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Shekinah Brattrud, who scored 17 points along with six assists and four steals.
While California Military Institute couldn't quite beat the Knights on Thursday, the two-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 32-point loss they were dealt last Tuesday. California Military Institute fell just short of the Knights by a score of 35-33.
Desert Christian Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. As for California Military Institute, they dropped their record down to 1-9 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.
Everything came up roses for Desert Christian Academy against the Rough Riders in their previous matchup back in January as the squad secured a 46-19 win. With Desert Christian Academy ahead 28-6 at the half, the game was all but over already.
