Basketball Recap: Desert Hot Springs Takes a Loss

Desert Hot Springs won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. 2025 welcomed they with a 56-34 loss courtesy of the Xavier Prep Saints. The Golden Eagles were not able to make up for their loss to the Saints from their previous meeting back in November of 2017.

Xavier Prep was led to victory by Emma Thomsen and Grace Thomsen. Emma posted 21 points, while Grace earned 19 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which Emma has scored at least a third of Xavier Prep's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Arianna Padilla, who put up eight points.

Desert Hot Springs dropped their record down to 2-9 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Xavier Prep, they moved to 5-13 with that victory, which also ended their six-game losing streak.

Desert Hot Springs has already played their next matchup, a 37-32 loss against Banning on the 7th. As for Xavier Prep, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 43-16 win against Rancho Mirage on the 6th.
