Cheverus took an eight-run defeat the last time they faced off against Marshwood, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Stags never let the Hawks get on the board and left with a 1-0 win on Saturday. The victory was familiar territory for the Stags, who have now won eight games in a row.

Cheverus got a great performance from Ben Dumais as he didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. What's more, Dumais posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April.

At the plate, Cheverus' win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Holmes, who went 1-for-5 with one stolen base and one run.

Cheverus' record is now 12-1. As for Marshwood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-10.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Cheverus is set to take on their familiar foe Falmouth at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Stags 3.1, the Navigators 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Marshwood will square off against rival Windham at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
