Football Recap: Lassen Grizzlies vs. Foothill Cougars
If Lassen was riding high fresh off their 57-23 takedown of Enterprise two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Grizzlies were dealt a 40-7 loss at the hands of the Foothill Cougars on Friday. The Grizzlies haven't had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.
When it comes to explaining why Lassen lost, don't look at Dowan Stephens. Despite the final result, he rushed for 113 yards and one score while picking up 7.1 yards per carry. Stephens got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 73 yards.
Foothill's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was John Puffer, who threw for 170 yards and three TDs while completing 90.9% of his passes, and also rushed for 37 yards. Those three passing touchdowns gave Puffer a new career-high. Carson Anderson was in the mix as well, providing Foothill with two touchdowns.
Lassen's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Foothill, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.
Lassen has already played their next game, a 56-14 win against Las Plumas on the 3rd. As for Foothill, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 36-27 victory against Corning on the 3rd.
