Basketball Recap: Terra Nova Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Terra Nova faced off against Half Moon Bay on Saturday. The Terra Nova Tigers fell to the Half Moon Bay Cougars 46-40. The Tigers haven't had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Despite the loss, Terra Nova still got an impressive performance from Gabby Dyogi, who went 6-for-13 en route to 16 points. That's the most points Dyogi has posted since back in December of 2024. Mariyah Mahasin was another key player, putting up eight points.

Half Moon Bay's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zoey Lemoge, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Lemoge has scored at least a third of Half Moon Bay's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Delaney Dorwin, who went 6-for-12 to rack up 15 points and seven boards.

Terra Nova's defeat dropped their record down to 14-10. As for Half Moon Bay, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season.

Coincidentally, Terra Nova and Half Moon Bay will both be playing King's Academy the next time they take the court. Terra Nova will head out to face King's Academy at 7:00 p.m. on February 22nd, while Half Moon Bay will host them at 6:00 p.m. on February 25th.
