Football Recap: Washburn Rural Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Washburn Rural and Northwest squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Washburn Rural had to settle for second. They came up short against the Grizzlies, falling 52-28. The game was a close 24-21 at the break, but unfortunately for the Blues it sure didn't stay that way.

It was another big night for Augie Fast, who rushed for 294 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 11.8 yards per carry for Northwest. Those five rushing touchdowns gave Fast a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jaylen Mason, who threw for 163 yards and a pair of TDs.

Washburn Rural has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season. As for Northwest, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-1.

Washburn Rural does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Northwest, they will welcome Derby at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
