Football Recap: Fabian Gutierrez Leads Deming's Defense on Friday

It was a proper cat-fight when Deming faced off against Gadsden on Friday. The Wildcats lost 27-7 to the Panthers. The contest marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the loss, Deming still got an impressive performance from Joan Ramirez, who picked up 149 receiving yards. Ramirez's receiving production has been exceptional as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 109 receiving yards.

Even if they lost, Deming's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Fabian Gutierrez was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself.

ETHAN MORALES had an outrageously good game for Gadsden as he threw for 289 yards and four touchdowns while completing 81.8% of his passes. MORALES' passing game has become a key predictor of the Panthers' success: the team is 4-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 2-3 otherwise. 117 of MORALES' passing yards were hauled in by MAURO ALMANZA, who also brought in two receiving touchdowns.

This is the second loss in a row for Deming and nudges their season record down to 1-9. As for Gadsden, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-4.

Deming wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 35-14 loss against Goddard on the 8th. As for Gadsden, they have also already played their next contest, a 50-0 win against Capital on the 7th.
