Basketball Recap: Geonna Riffle's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Ferndale over Claysburg-Kimmel

Ferndale was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 46-41 heartbreaker at the hands of the Claysburg-Kimmel Bulldogs. The Yellow Jackets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2024.

Ferndale lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Geonna Riffle, who posted 15 points and six boards. Another player making a difference was Lydia Hyland, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 13 rebounds.

Zailee Bush had a dynamite game For Claysburg-Kimmel., putting up 22 points and four steals. Bailey Tipton was another key player, posting 16 points.

Ferndale's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Claysburg-Kimmel, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Coming up, Ferndale will head out to square off against Windber at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Claysburg-Kimmel, they have already played their next game, a 67-28 loss against Everett on the 8th.
