Basketball Recap: California Starts Season with Loss at Home

California unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They had to suffer through a 77-45 loss at the hands of the Burrell Bucs. The Trojans were down 53-31 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Despite the loss, California still got an impressive performance from Hayley Gibson, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Lila Mitchell, who posted nine points along with seven boards and four blocks.

The win made it two in a row for Burrell and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

California didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 45-29 loss against Aquinas Academy on the 5th. As for Burrell, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mt. Pleasant at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
