Baseball Recap: Howard Triumphs

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Howard ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Northeast Raiders 9-8. This was a revenge game for the Huskies: when they faced off against the Raiders last Monday, they had to take a 12-3 loss.

Joseph Johnson was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2025. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with five stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Howard's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 6-12 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jamal Ivery, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

Howard's victory bumped their record up to 8-13. As for Northeast, they dropped their record down to 10-14 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Coming up, Howard will head out to challenge Northside at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Northeast, they will face off against East Laurens at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Raiders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season.
