Preview: Agnes Irwin Owls vs. William Penn Charter Quakers
Agnes Irwin is 0-10 against William Penn Charter since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Agnes Irwin Owls will head out on the road to face off against the William Penn Charter Quakers at 4:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Agnes Irwin's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight defeat. They took a 50-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Episcopal Academy. The game was a 22-22 toss-up at halftime, but Agnes Irwin couldn't quite close it out.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Simone Harvey, who scored ten points along with three steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Gabrielle Seibert, who scored seven points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, after a string of 11 wins, William Penn Charter's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 63-62 to Germantown Academy. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Agnes Irwin's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 8-12. As for William Penn Charter, their defeat ended a 14-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 15-9.
Agnes Irwin might still be hurting after the 51-28 defeat they got from William Penn Charter in their previous meeting back in January. Can Agnes Irwin avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
