Football Recap: Poly Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Poly lost against Dunbar back in September of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Engineers were dealt a 50-6 defeat at the hands of the Poets. While losing is never fun, the Engineers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland football rankings (they are ranked 123rd, while the Poets are ranked 11th).

Kaiyon Newton went supernova For Dunbar., rushing for 82 yards and two scores on only nine carries. Those two rushing touchdowns gave Newton a new career-high. Dakyrie Robinson did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 80 receiving yards.

Having lost for the first time this season, Poly fell to 2-1. As for Dunbar, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Poly will square off against Forest Park at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. The Foresters' defense has only allowed 15 points per game this season, so the Engineers' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Dunbar, they will welcome Lake Clifton at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
