Football Game Preview: Chase Trojans vs. Draughn Wildcats

The Chase Trojans will venture away from home to face off against the Draughn Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Chase is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.

Chase is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against East Burke on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Trojans lost 38-14 to the Cavaliers. The Trojans were down 30-6 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Jontae Wingo, who rushed for 67 yards and one TD. Chase also got help from Brycen McSwain, who showed off his sure hands for 86 receiving yards.

Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three matchup, Draughn brought some dynamite into their most recent game. They took down West Caldwell 58-44 on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won three in a row.

Draughn's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Chase, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.

Chase came up short against Draughn when the teams last played back in September of 2024, falling 34-28. Thankfully for the Trojans, Sterling Radabaugh (who threw for 288 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 58 yards and one score) won't be suiting up this time.
