Softball Game Preview: Columbus Blue Devils vs. Shaw Raiders

The Columbus Blue Devils will face off against the Shaw Raiders at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Columbus played against Cairo on Saturday and lost via forfeit.

Shaw easily dispatched Jordan on Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Raiders fell just short of Brookstone by a score of 6-4 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Raiders have suffered since August 10, 2024.

Skylar Lockhart spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits.

On the hitting side, Michayla Bledsoe made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis McClain, who earned two runs and one stolen base.

Shaw's loss dropped their record down to 14-10. As for Columbus, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-15 record this season.
