Softball Recap: Lutheran Takes Down Ranked Cheyenne Mountain

Lutheran faced Cheyenne Mountain in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Lions were the clear victors by a 14-3 margin over the Red-Tailed Hawks. The victory continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Red-Tailed Hawks: they've now won eight in a row.

Lutheran got a great performance from Annie Schroeder as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 13 over six innings pitched. Schroeder has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Elle Beausoleil was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Sophia Reed was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Lutheran's win bumped their record up to 12-4. As for Cheyenne Mountain, they moved to 10-2 with that loss, which also ended their seven-game winning streak.

Lutheran has already played their next game, an 11-1 victory against Air Academy on the 22nd. As for Cheyenne Mountain, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, an 8-7 defeat against Palmer Ridge on the 22nd.
