Basketball Recap: Thalia Chavez Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Pittsburg

Tokay saw some tournament action on Tuesday. They strolled past the Pittsburg Pirates with points to spare, taking the game 38-24. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.

Tokay's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Thalia Chavez, who posted six points along with 12 boards and six assists. Those 12 boards gave Chavez a new career-high. Karina Hernandez was another key player, putting up seven points and ten rebounds.

Tokay smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

Tokay's victory bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Pittsburg, they now have a losing record at 6-7.

Tokay wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 48-13 win against River Islands on the 3rd. As for Pittsburg, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Cornerstone Christian at 7:00 p.m.
