Softball Recap: Vinita Has No Trouble Against Catoosa

Vinita got themselves on the board against Catoosa on Tuesday, but Catoosa never followed suit. They blew past the Indians 15-0. The victory continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Indians: they've now won six in a row.

CC Carter made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in August.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rylee Brown, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Claudia Martins, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Vinita hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive games.

Vinita's win bumped their record up to 8-13. As for Catoosa, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season.

Vinita will venture away from home to square off against Sequoyah at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Catoosa, they will welcome Chouteau-Mazie at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
