Basketball Recap: Purdue Polytechnic's Undefeated Season over After Five Games

If Purdue Polytechnic was feeling good fresh off their 80-4 takedown of Christel House on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Techies took a 60-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warren Central Warriors on Saturday. The contest marked the Techies' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Despite the loss, Purdue Polytechnic still got an impressive performance from Amelia Story, who posted 13 points and three steals. Story has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Coreah Lewis, who earned six points and four steals.

Leading Warren Central to victory were Denaijah Jacobs and Denell Jacobs. Denaijah shot 55% from the field to rack up 16 points along with eight steals and five rebounds, while Denell went 5-for-11 on her way to 17 points in addition to six boards and four steals. With that strong performance, Denell is now averaging an impressive 2.2 steals per game. Acelynn Durham was another key player, putting up six points and nine boards.

Having lost for the first time this season, Purdue Polytechnic fell to 4-1. As for Warren Central, the victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Purdue Polytechnic will take on Herron at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Warren Central, they will challenge Ben Davis at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
