Football Recap: Monterey Trail Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Monterey Trail couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They were dealt a 54-14 loss at the hands of the Folsom Bulldogs on Friday. The defeat continues a trend for the Mustangs in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost four in a row.

Despite the loss, Monterey Trail still got an impressive performance from Odie Jefferson, who rushed for 112 yards.

Ryder Lyons was his usual excellent self, rushing for 105 yards and four TDs on only eight carries, while also throwing for 91 yards and one touchdown while completing 87.5% of his passes for Folsom. That's the most rushing yards Lyons has posted since back in November of 2024. EJ Coleman was in the mix too, providing Folsom with one score.

Monterey Trail's loss dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Folsom, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 11-1.

Monterey Trail does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Folsom, they will face off against Oak Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
