Basketball Recap: Ferndale Extends Winning Streak to Three

Ferndale had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came out on top against the Presentation Panthers by a score of 36-24. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 257th, while the Panthers are ranked 831st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ferndale to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tinnley Pidgeon, who posted 15 points. Maddison Gossi was another key player, putting up ten points.

Ferndale's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-3. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.7 points per game. As for Presentation, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-5.

Ferndale won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Granada at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Presentation, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Saint Francis at 6:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
