Basketball Game Preview: Granada Matadors vs. Heritage Patriots

The Granada Matadors will venture away from home to challenge the Heritage Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Granada saw some tournament action on Saturday. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 61-40 to Marin Catholic, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. While losing is never fun, the Matadors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 437th, while the Wildcats are ranked 192nd).

Meanwhile, Heritage humbled KIPP King with a 66-29 victory.

Granada better focus on containing Lily Wilright and Olachi Nwosu as the pair were huge in Heritage's win. Wilright almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards, while Nwosu dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards. Another player making a difference was Riley Bayot, who posted eight points.

Heritage smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 11 consecutive matchups.

Heritage's record is now 6-7. As for Granada, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-9.

Granada took a serious blow against Heritage in their previous matchup back in November of 2017, falling 69-20. Can Granada avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
