Baseball Recap: Summit Academy Comes Up Short

Summit Academy had lost six straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 9-6 to make it seven. They lost 15-0 to the Riverview Pirates. The Dragons were not able to make up for their loss to the Pirates from their previous meeting back in May of 2023.

As for Riverview, their record now sits at 7-13-1. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Riverview's part, Owen Ferrara looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. Ferrara also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Pirates are 2-0-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-13 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jameson Gelineau, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Nolan Jones, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Summit Academy will be playing at home against University Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Riverview, they will head out to take on Plymouth at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
