Basketball Recap: Escalon Skates Past Ripon Christian with Ease

Escalon had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They breezed by the Ripon Christian Knights to the tune of 45-12. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Cougars also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2024.

Escalon got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Arianna Velasco out in front who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten boards. Velasco is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 16 games she's played dating back to last season. Ayana Cocio was another key player, putting up eight points.

Escalon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Escalon has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a massive bump to their 10-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.4 points per game. As for Ripon Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-8.

Escalon wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 43-40 loss against Ripon on the 23rd. Ripon Christian has also already played their next contest, a 50-33 defeat against Orestimba on the 23rd.
